What a fantastic first event of the Cookridge Community Run.
Here are my observations and feedback which I hope you find helpful in the preparation of next year’s event.
Try to keep for next year:-
Very well organised and clear information and instructions for the runners.
Parking at Ralph Thoresby School was another great community link and kept the side roads free of runners parked cars. Opportunity for portaloos here perhaps?
Fabulous course marshals, enthusiast and well positioned along the route.
Great volunteer team was evident as to how smoothly it was on the day.
Route was well defined and a good mix of path and undulation (by the way it’s not a flat course, ha ha).
Drinks station was in the right spot along the route and having the lid off reduced time and potential congestion at the water station, well done Scouts!
Great fit T-shirt and as there was enough stock so I got one that fit, some races you get what’s leftover, so I hope you don’t have a lot of spares.
Amazing cake stand in the Scout hut.
Some wonderful photos taken from very beautiful parts of the route.
Loved the warm up lady, local MP involved and even Ronnie the Rhino.
All added to the great atmosphere, the good weather was also a bonus.

feedback

Firstly thank you for letting them compete in the event and feedback from them is that they all really enjoyed the event and are keen to do it again next year.  They did mention a little bottle necking near the beginning, but otherwise all good comments. I think more will be keen to give it a go next year - including me :)  I wonder if it would be possible to have a separate category for Nordic walkers to add a little extra competitive incentive?! I may be able to rally up other groups too if that is the case...

It was an excellent course... the most accurate 10k I've run. The only improvement I can think of is to have km markers.
D.W.

Hi, beautiful setting. Really enjoyed it. If you could add some km markers or let the marshals know where they are that would be great.
M.S.

Thank you John.  I thought you all did an amazing job.  I’ve never done a 10k but felt reassured and spoke to others who were just in it for the small venue/run numbers, idyllic setting and good cause.

This was a lovely 10k with a real community atmosphere! Everything was well organised, it was a beautiful route and the HQ was ideal.  Thank you & everyone who organised this & volunteered on the day.

Really enjoyed the run and the route, also well marshalled. Hope to run it again next year. Thanks!

A lovely run but felt more than a 10k,  organisation was fine, so nice for the scouts to be so involved.
It was a lovely route, I hope to run it again
Thanks for everything.

Thank you for all your hard work for the Cookridge run. I had great fun marshalling it and my family who came to help support the runners also had a wonderful time.
The couple who live in the farm house were lovely as well.
I would love to be involved in next year’s race please and particularly enjoyed that spot ha! Just hope the weather is as nice in future events.

This was a great race. Really well organised, the most beautiful 10km run I have done. Thanks as always to the marshals and the scouts for all their support along the way. We are looking forward to next year!

Thanks for all the updates both before and after Sunday’s run, John. It was an excellent event – very well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. There was a great atmosphere, exactly as it should be for a charity event such as this. Goodie bags appreciated - and the wine for winners!

Here's my feedback on the Cookridge Community Run.  The race had a nice friendly, local feel to it which was nice.
The marshalling was good, marshals were friendly and supportive.
It was a good race and I will probably do it again next.

I thought Sunday’s run was really good.
The course was lovely and it was well marshalled – the marshals were all very jolly too. I also thought the MP’s comments at the start were a nice touch.
In short, I thought the event was well – organised and the run will be on my radar for next year.

First of all, many thanks for organising such a fantastic event! We had a great time(did my first 10k and would have never thought about doing it, until this run came along!)
I certainly have no complaints, only one thing came to mind after chatting to a fellow runner, that it would have been great to have maybe a BBQ later on at the cricket ground, or somewhere local, just to celebrate the event.
See you next year and thank you again!

Our whole experience was a fantastic one! The run was well set out and the marshals amazing. I have nothing negative to say at all from collecting our numbers at the start to collect our goodies at the end (which by the way we’re really good!)
Thank you for all your efforts and all the people involved in the running and organising of the day.

I thoroughly enjoyed the race - I thought it was really well organised and marshalled and had no problems knowing which way to go.
The atmosphere was great and I hope it becomes a yearly event (and certainly plan to enter next year if that’s the case).

As mentioned to some of the team on the day. It was an excellent race, lovely route, brilliant marshals, superbly organised.
Well done to you all on the first race, I shall definitely be doing it next year. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves!
D.S.

I really enjoyed the run on Sunday!  Easy, wide paths, scenic and very pleasant.  Sure to become an annual favourite for many!
M.M.

I’ve got nothing but good feedback about the run and I’ve done many over the years.
The route was beautiful and the Marshalls were friendly and encouraging.
The facilities and goodie bag were great too.
More importantly it was raising money for a worthy cause. I’ve lost both parents, my grandfather and uncle to cancer so it is always a cause I will support.
I hope this run is on next year and you are able to raise more money!

Many thanks indeed. It was a very fine run, helped of course by being dry underfoot and temperate above. The organisation was superb and the vital marshalls were simply wonderful. Heartiest congratulations on your organisation.

Hi John, I live on Pinfold Lane and just wanted to say - fantastic job on organising today’s run, great to see so many smiles. Please make it an annual event!
